quiet saturday morning

Oh how I love cloudy fall mornings. On my drive to work the last few days, it's been just like this outside - overcast, a little wet, a little cool, lots of fall leaves. Maybe that's dreary, but I absolutely love mornings like this! They are the epitome of fall and Christmas in Alabama.

Nathan is out of town this weekend, so it's just me without much committment to be anywhere, and I am loving it. Last night I got a lot of work done, then went to hear my cousin-in-law's band play downtown. (Is that how that works? Cousin-in-law? Anyway, he is married to my husband's cousin, so that is where the relation comes in. Haha.) Then I slept like a baby sprawled out across our whole queen-size bed. It was lovely. I couldn't believe it when I looked at the clock this morning and it said 9:45am. It's been a long time since I slept in that late!

Yesterday afternoon, I also took my spending cash to the craft store. Oh, craft supplies, how I love you, let me count the ways...

I finally picked up some embroidery glue so that I can finish my punchneedle projects (not cheap, let me tell you. $5.99 for that itty bitty bottle.) I also went all out and got a huge stack of 12"x12" Christmas papers. Granted, they were 40% off at Hobby Lobby, so it was a pretty good deal. There was a more expensive, more "designer"-looking paper pack, but to be honest, I wasn't really thrilled with their pattern choices. I love the basics pack I got because they are just that...classic.

AND Hobby Lobby had some great fabrics I've been eying for 30% off...I bought the green print on the far left, and the two red and green prints on the far right. Put together with some fabrics I got a couple weeks ago in Franklin, I'm getting pretty excited about building a red and green stash to maybe make a Christmas blanket. (I might have to get Mom's help on that one.)

Speaking of Christmas, I've already got a stash of 5 Christmas magazines. YES. You cannot go wrong with a good Christmas-themed mag, am I right?!

Anyway, I'm going to work on this coffee and enjoy my empty day. I'm doing another "Picture Your Day" for a forum that I frequent, where I document my day and share with everyone else, and they do the same...so those will be up tomorrow sometime.

One last thing - I'm thinking about renaming my blog. Why is it so hard to think of just the right thing?

  1. Bridger says your new name should be "puppy"

And you know... really... what's not to like about a puppy? Honestly.

How sassy do you want it to be? I'm going to give you the great idea of sasafrass. Kinda old school, kinda hip. Or maybe succotash...a homespun mishmash. You can thank me later.

  3. Look at you, crafty girl! I totally agree with you about the fall colors and the Christmasy feeling in the air ;)

And I got the Christmas Southern Living a couple of days ago and totally devoured it. Loooove Christmas mags. Yours look delicious!

Not sure about your blog name, but I love your tagline: "making a life and a marriage and a mess in Huntsville Alabama." I think you should keep it, or something like it!
